Most of us are used to racing sailboats in fleets where the Racing Rules Of Sailing govern our actions and ensure safety around the racecourse. Becoming more and more popular though is a form of one-on-one racing called Match Racing. The rules are a little different and the start is much different.
I found a great video series on the US Sailing YouTube Channel and will post the entire series here over about 10 or 11 posts.
The first difference in Match Racing is the Start. This video is a short overview of the race course and explains the timing of the start and when you can “enter the box.”
